The location of this house makes it a unique and special find. Situated a five minute drive above the unspoiled Italian Mediterranean town of Bonassola, the home's front patio offers breathtaking views of the aquamarine sea. Two bedrooms share the same view and the downstairs living area's french doors beg to be left open to the sea air.
Bonassola is a small town near the famous and busy Cinque Terre region. The town itself offers very good restaurants, wine stores, a helpful tourist office, and a lovely beach. In summer, daily fast boats connect Bonassola to Portovenere and Portofino. Local trains connect all the coastal towns and provide the most convenient transportation; hiking trails abound.
The villa itself, San Giorgio, has just been newly restored using the traditional method of "tagliate a vivo" (sharp cutting), which uses local stone to keep the house cool in the summer. Ten thousand square meters of property surround the villa and support the owner's olive vineyards.
The ground floor consists of a large living/ dining room, a sitting alcove that contains a trundle bed, a full kitchen, and a full bath with washing machine. French doors in the living room open onto a portico, perfect for outdoor dining. There are couches and a TV in the living room and the furnishings are suited to a beach house--not luxurious but comfortable. The alcove with trundle can be used as sleeping quarters for two children. The kitchen is equipped with microwave, refrigerator, dishwasher and gas stovetop.
Upstairs, there is one bedroom with twin beds, an en-suite shower bath, and views of the ocean. A second bedroom has a king bed and its own en-suite shower bath. The third bedroom has a king bed, en-suite shower bath, and views of the ocean. There is a fourth bathroom on this level with a bathtub. All furnishings are casual, family items- bright and cheery.
