This restored farmhouse sits just south of Lucca, above the village of Balbanno. The owners have moved into the city and maintain the farmhouse as a country home. The house is filled with country antiques and eclectic touches, lovingly appointed to maintain a rural atmosphere. The views from the shady front loggia stretch over the Tuscan hillside, Puccini Lake, and, on a clear day, to the Mediterranean.

The first floor contains a large country kitchen, fully equipped, a spacious living room with fireplace, TV, and dining table, and another ample sitting room with fireplace. All rooms on the first floor open onto the front garden through french doors.

The second floor has four bedrooms and three baths. The first bedroom has two twin beds and the second has a double bed. These two rooms share a large bathroom with a shower and bathtub. The master suite has a low double bed and an office area. It's en-suite bathroom is small with a shower, no tub. The fourth bedroom has two twin beds and an en-suite bathroom with shower; it's best suited for children.

A large, in-gound pool, with shower and barbeque area, has recently been added to Il Basso's grounds. This country home offers a relaxing and authentic homebase for experiencing Italy as a local.
