This 17th century manor house stands amidst the restored homes
that once housed its servants and subjects in the tiny hamlet of Le
Pazanan. Owned by the same family for generations, the house is furnished
and decorated with an elegant mix of antiques and eclectic modern art. The
grounds consist of a half-acre of maincured lawn and garden, a large pool,
and various out-buildings.
On the first floor you'll find the petite salon,
the grand salon with grand piano, the dining room, a small study, a
fully appointed kitchen, and two bedrooms.The first has a queen bed,
and two windows that look out to the gardens. The second bedroom has
a small double , best for one person. There is a full, modern marble
bath with WC, bidet, tub with hand-held shower, sink, and a second seperate
WC on this floor.
A set of stairs leads to the marble landing on the
second floor, from which four bedrooms radiate. One has a canopied
king bed, windows over the pool, and a full bath just outside the room.
The second has a king, windows over the pool, and an en-suite bathroom with
shower. The third room has two twin beds, views of the valley, and a full
en-suite bath.
The fourth bedroom is smaller, with two twin beds, best
for children. Outdoor dining is the norm when weather permits: a
full barbeque and well-equipped dining area sits on a grand patio with
countryside views.
Pazanan is located in the Ardeche region which is known for it's abundance of activities for the outdoor enthusiast. The Ardeche Gorge, "The Grand Canyon of Europe," offers hiking, canoeing, kayaking, caving, mountain biking and horseback riding facilities. The area is well loved by French tourists but usually overlooked by other travelers. Nearest villages: Joyeuse and Lablanchere. 48km to Ales, 90km to Nimes, 110km to Avignon.
